Intelligence Within

There is an Intelligence within you, beyond your ego. Learning to call It forth and expand in influence allows us to grow up. The ego is a perpetual child, fearful that it won't get what it wants, placing its happiness upon its external goals. When we successfully quiet the ego, and listen to the Inner Voice, we are adults.

Self-reflection

Without self-reflection we are hopelessly bound to thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve us. We end up sleepwalking through life, reacting to events automatically with patterns we have learned.  It seems that most of us are doing and saying what we feel compelled to do or say. Take it off automatic.  It is important to observe yourself as if you are an actor playing a role. Stop, and ask yourself:

"Who am I being in this conversation, and what is my effect? Is this who I really am?"

be the hero

There is a voice in you calling you to be the hero, to take on your fears and to find the treasure. The treasure is the freedom to be you, and to walk this world fearlessly. It is to rise above the pettiness and conflicts and see life clearly. The choice is clear. Answer the call to follow your purpose, or lead a life of quiet desperation.

Excerpted from Adults at Work by William Frank Diedrich

Where do we begin? Begin with whatever is in front of you right now. What in life is causing you pain?  . . .
You can begin the journey by asking yourself two questions:

  1. Who am I ?
  1. What do I want to come of this?

Powerful people

Truly powerful people manage their egos, and forceful people are driven by their egos. Forceful people operate from fear, while powerful people operate from an understanding of their connectedness to others and to a Higher Power.

From Adults at Work, by William Frank Diedrich, available at

Many people in positions of power vacillate between power and force, between childishness and real adulthood. The most powerful are able to manage ego when conditions of threat and fear arise. An example of this would be “grace under fire.” This is the ability to be guided by one’s values and principles even though there is tremendous pressure to violate them.

Spiritual Intelligence

Spiritual intelligence is about surrender. It is taking your hand off the tiller and realizing that you cannot control anything outside of your thoughts and behaviors. You cannot know what is best for others or even yourself from an ego perspective. Growing up is realizing you are a powerful person because you have influence, but you don’t have control. When your influence is guided by the Inner Voice it increases. Power does not originate from you; it flows through you. You are a conduit, not a source. Creativity flows through you; it doesn’t originate in you.

You are a song

You are a song sung by God.
Take each thought that troubles you and give it as a gift in prayer.
The ego cannot solve the problems of the ego.
Join in the song of Love sung by your Creator. Allow the song to be sung through you.
Give away your fears until you are fearless. When there is no fear, the miracles begin.

Healing prayer

All that is needed for healing is a lack of fear. Completely let go of fear and the healing power of Spirit can flow through you. Healing is of the mind. The body is an effect of the mind. You are not your body. Heal the mind and the body responds.

This is not easy, but it is a worthwhile goal and practice. Letting go of fear begins with your intention.
